Donna Niemann studied photography years ago as a Grayson College student, then put it aside until a year ago when she was off work for health reasons and wanted something to do. She states she just started watching and noticing things that she wanted to photograph. She won 3rd place at the Grayson County Fair last year with one of her first pictures. Now Donna has been chosen by the Friends of Hagerman NWR as Photographer of the Month for July.
Donna lives in Sherman, and has enjoyed Hagerman NWR as long as she can remember. When she was little girl, her dad would take her, along with his U. S. Navy telescope from his service days, to the Refuge to look at the geese. Now she visits the Refuge regularly, and enjoys nature photography, especially close-ups. Donna uses a Kodak Z712 IS and a tripod. She is a member of the Shutterbug Club sponsored by Sherman Parks & Recreation. She has two sons, ages 17 and 13, and they have digital cameras. Donna is hoping that they will enjoy photography as much as she does.
