Mark your calendar. The Steering Committee for The First Annual Gordonville Hay Day Community Festival and Parade has finalized its plans for an innovative entertainment event scheduled for this coming Memorial Day Weekend, May 23 & 24 in Gordonville. Organized by leading citizens and supported by an impressive list of community sponsors, Hay Day will become a major annual, Memorial Weekend event for the west end of Lake Texoma.
A citizen recognition campaign and award ceremony plus on-stage performances by the Gordonville Hams will kick off the event Friday evening at the Community Center.
Saturday morning, at 10:00, a grand Parade lead by the Whitesboro High School Band will include community honorees, veterans, dignities, area organizations, augmented by fire engines, horseback riders, motorcyclists, and citizens.
The all day Community Festival on Saturday will feature a variety of events, activities, and public services of interest to young and old alike.
Hay Day proceeds will benefit a newly established college scholarship program for students of Whitesboro and S & S Consolidated ISDs, an oral and pictorial history project for the area, the First Responder unit of the Gordonville Volunteer Fire Department, and the Community Center.
